CASEMENT WINDOW: The type of window that cranks out.
Definitions
1. Sash: The glass and wood frame that encompasses the
glass. Sashes can be operable or fixed. 2. Frame: The sill, jamb, and trim of the window. 3. Brick Mould: the outer perimeter trim of the window itself. This is not any rough-sawn trim that may surround the window. 4. Inner Sill: The part of the sill that is directly under the sash for a casement and/or inside the screen for a double-hung. 5. Outer Sill: Otherwise called the nosing is the outer most part of the sill that is seen from the outside. 6. Mull Trim: Any other exterior side trim that divides multiple units joined together, i.e. doubles, triples, etc. 7. Perimeter Trim: Rough-sawn or smooth wood trim that may wrap the window unit, but is not part of the window.
PICTURE WINDOW: Any other single window that is fixed, but not a fixed casement window. Most casements have at least one fixed sash.
DOUBLE HUNG WINDOW: The type of window that slides up and down.
